Why decimal feet matter
A 12′ 9″ room is 12.75 ft, not 12.9 ft — a mistake that over-orders flooring by about 1%. Enter decimal feet into the square footage, concrete or linear feet calculators, or type 12'9" into the converter above to get the decimal.
Stud spacing is the other common one: 16″ on center = 1.333 ft, 24″ = 2 ft, 19.2″ (used for 8 ft walls with five spaces) = 1.6 ft.
