Household water pressure
Residential water pressure is usually 40–80 psi (2.8–5.5 bar). The plumbing codes require a pressure-reducing valve when street pressure exceeds 80 psi (5.5 bar), because high pressure wears out valves, water heaters and supply lines. A $10 hose-bib gauge tells you where you stand.
